Every story in this edition is a reminder that meaningful change begins with people. Across our programmes, we continue to see individuals gaining new skills, discovering new opportunities, and building brighter futures with the support of partners, volunteers, and communities who share our vision. As you explore this month's highlights, we hope you'll be inspired by the collective impact we are creating—one initiative, one success story, and one life at a time.

SmartLife Honoured as a Key Partner in Dubai Holding's Gift It Forward 2026 Campaign

SmartLife Foundation was proud to be recognised as one of Dubai Holding's key community partners during the Gift It Forward 2026 campaign—an inspiring nationwide initiative that embodied the spirit of the Season of Wulfa by encouraging generosity, sustainability, and community collaboration throughout the Holy Month of Ramadan.

The campaign united more than 55 companies and non-profit organisations from across the UAE, successfully repurposing and distributing over 500,000 essential items to individuals and communities in need. By bringing together businesses, charities, and volunteers, Gift It Forward 2026 demonstrated the remarkable impact that can be achieved through collective action.

As a valued community partner, SmartLife Foundation collaborated with Dubai Holding to further its mission of empowering frontline and blue-collar communities. The partnership supported several of SmartLife's flagship initiatives, including SmartHands, which creates sustainable income opportunities for talented artisans, and the Smart Chef 2026 Grand Finale, a programme that celebrates inclusion, teamwork, and the extraordinary talents of blue- and white-collar participants.

This recognition reflects the strength of meaningful partnerships and a shared commitment to creating positive social impact. SmartLife Foundation extends its sincere appreciation to Dubai Holding for its continued trust and collaboration. Together, we are proving that when organisations unite around a common purpose, they can create lasting change and build stronger, more inclusive communities.

Smart Summer Bus Delivers Relief to Frontline Workers During the UAE Summer

As temperatures continue to soar across the UAE, the Smart Summer Bus initiative is once again providing much-needed relief to frontline workers by creating a safe, cool, and comfortable space to rest during the mandatory Midday Break.

Operating throughout the summer until 8 September, the initiative positions fully air-conditioned rest buses near work sites, offering outdoor workers a welcoming environment to escape the extreme heat between 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM. In addition to a cool place to recharge, workers have access to fresh lunches, chilled beverages, and drinking water, helping them stay hydrated, refreshed, and ready to safely resume their work.

While the programme is coordinated virtually by the SmartLife Foundation team, its success is made possible through the dedication of volunteers and the invaluable support of our sponsoring organizations, who assist with on-site operations and worker engagement.

As part of the initiative, The UAE Lottery, in partnership with SmartLife Foundation, organized a special outreach activity benefiting 200 blue-collar workers. The team distributed neck fans, cooling towels, bottled water, and refreshing juices, providing practical resources to help workers cope with the summer heat while reinforcing the shared commitment to their health, safety, and wellbeing.

The Smart Summer Bus continues to demonstrate the power of collaboration, bringing together corporate partners, volunteers, and the community to ensure that those who build and serve our nation receive the care and appreciation they deserve.

Smart Chef 2026 Serves Up a Grand Finale to Remember

After months of anticipation, friendly competition, and unforgettable culinary moments, Smart Chef 2026 came to an exciting close, celebrating the remarkable talent, creativity, and teamwork of ten inspiring blue- and white-collar pairs.

The Grand Finale showcased much more than exceptional cooking skills—it highlighted the power of collaboration, breaking down barriers and bringing people from diverse backgrounds together through a shared passion for food. Each team demonstrated innovation, determination, and heart, making the judges' decision no easy task.

Congratulations to our Smart Chef 2026 Champions, who were awarded the grand prize of AED 10,000, and to our talented Runners-up, who received AED 3,500 in recognition of their outstanding performance.

This milestone event would not have been possible without the incredible support of our valued partners and dedicated volunteers. Our sincere appreciation goes to Chef Bobby Kapoor, our venue partner ICCA Dubai, our exceptional Project Lead Ms. Aisha, the panel of judges, volunteers, sponsors, and every participant whose enthusiasm and commitment made Smart Chef 2026 such an outstanding success.

As the curtain falls on this year's competition, Smart Chef has established itself as far more than a cooking contest. It is a celebration of inclusion, friendship, and opportunity—demonstrating that when people come together with passion and purpose, extraordinary things can happen. We look forward to welcoming even more talented chefs and inspiring stories in the years ahead.

Building Tomorrow's Engineers: SmartLife Launches M.E.P. Summer Classes

This August, SmartLife Foundation is opening the doors to a new generation of young innovators with the launch of its M.E.P. Summer Classes 2026—an engaging programme designed to introduce students to the exciting world of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) engineering.

Running from 3rd to 28th August 2026, the four-week programme is tailored for students aged 11 years and above, combining classroom learning with practical, hands-on experience. Participants will gain a strong foundation in essential engineering concepts while developing problem-solving skills and confidence through real-world applications.

Unlike traditional classroom-based learning, the M.E.P. Summer Classes emphasize practical exploration. Students will have the opportunity to work with industry tools, understand how building systems function, and experience the fundamentals of engineering in an interactive environment. The programme also includes valuable industrial exposure, helping young learners connect theory with real-life careers in the construction and engineering sectors.

Classes will be held Monday to Thursday from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the SmartLife Office in Al Quoz, Dubai, with a certificate awarded to every participant upon successful completion. Limited seats are available, and registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Pick-up and drop-off arrangements can also be discussed to support participating families.

By investing in practical STEM education at an early age, SmartLife Foundation continues its commitment to empowering young people with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to shape the future. The M.E.P. Summer Classes are more than just a holiday programme—they are an opportunity to spark curiosity, inspire innovation, and help tomorrow's engineers take their very first steps toward rewarding careers.

Shopping with Purpose: SmartHands Returns to Coca-Cola Arena

From 10–12 July, the SmartHands initiative once again transformed creativity into opportunity at Coca-Cola Arena, inviting the community to shop with purpose while supporting the talented blue-collar artisans behind every handcrafted creation.

Visitors explored a beautiful collection of handmade crochet products, each carefully crafted from 100% organic cotton by members of the SmartHands programme. More than just unique gifts, every piece represented a story of resilience, skill, and hope—demonstrating how creativity can become a pathway to empowerment.

Every purchase made during the three-day event directly contributed to improving the lives of the artisans by creating additional sources of income, strengthening self-confidence, and promoting dignity through meaningful employment. The overwhelming support from shoppers reaffirmed the community's belief that even a simple purchase can make a lasting difference.

SmartHands continues to provide a platform where craftsmanship meets opportunity, enabling blue-collar workers to showcase their talents while building brighter futures for themselves and their families. Events like these highlight the incredible impact that can be achieved when communities come together to support local artisans and invest in meaningful change.

At SmartLife Foundation, we believe that every handmade creation carries more than exceptional craftsmanship—it carries a story. Thanks to everyone who visited the SmartHands pop-up at Coca-Cola Arena and chose to make a purchase that truly mattered. Smart Woman Inspires Creativity and Connection Through Art Therapy

This July, the Smart Woman initiative continued its commitment to supporting the emotional wellbeing of female frontline workers through two inspiring Art Therapy Sessions, bringing together creativity, self-expression, and meaningful human connection.

On 11 July, in collaboration with the Adaakaari team led by Manasi, Smart Woman welcomed 40 female frontline workers from Berkeley Camp, Al Quoz for a vibrant and interactive art therapy experience. Participants hand-painted reusable cloth bags, transforming simple everyday items into colourful works of art while enjoying a calming and uplifting activity that encouraged relaxation, creativity, and self-confidence.

The journey continued on 18 July, when 24 women at the EFS Female Camp took part in another enriching session led by artist Ms. Zainab, with the support of Supervisor Keerthi. Through clay modelling, participants expressed their emotions in creative ways, discovering how art can become a powerful outlet for reflection and healing. Stories shared from their home countries fostered deeper connections, trust, and a sense of belonging, while music and dance filled the room with laughter and reminded everyone of the importance of joy and emotional wellbeing.

These sessions were made possible through the dedication of the Smart Woman team and volunteers. Special thanks go to Ms. Vidya Shenoy, whose tireless coordination ensured the programmes ran seamlessly, and to Soosamma, Berkeley Camp Boss, for arranging the venue and bringing participants together. Appreciation is also extended to Namrata, Smart Woman Mentor, Kaveri, Smart Woman Project Lead, and the Adaakaari team for their outstanding collaboration and on-site support throughout both events.

By creating safe spaces where women can express themselves, connect with one another, and celebrate their creativity, Smart Woman continues to demonstrate that even a simple artistic activity can have a lasting impact on confidence, emotional wellbeing, and community. Every smile, every conversation, and every handmade creation reflected the programme's mission of empowering women to thrive—both personally and collectively.

Smart Senior Citizen & Single Parent Programme: A Quarter of Learning, Connection and Wellbeing

The second quarter of 2026 was filled with enriching experiences for participants in the Smart Senior Citizen & Single Parent Programme, as a series of engaging workshops and interactive sessions focused on lifelong learning, emotional wellbeing, creativity, and healthy ageing.

The quarter began in April with an inspiring example of intergenerational learning through DIVE (Do It Very Easily). In a refreshing role reversal, senior citizens became the students while two young innovators, Divyana and Dhwaj Maheshwari, took on the role of teachers. Motivated by helping their own grandmother navigate the digital world, the siblings created DIVE to make everyday technology more accessible for seniors. Participants were guided through practical digital tools such as WhatsApp, ChatGPT, YouTube, and other essential applications, leaving the session feeling more confident and empowered to embrace today's connected world.

In May, the focus shifted to emotional wellbeing with a meaningful session led by the Mohanji Foundation as part of its Inner Victory Movement. Participants explored the emotional challenges that often accompany ageing, including loneliness, regret, and feelings of isolation. Through guided discussions and calming practices, the session encouraged self-reflection and inner peace, providing valuable tools to help participants navigate life's emotional journey with resilience and positivity.

The month also celebrated creativity and sustainability through a hands-on candle-making workshop facilitated by Amrita Dugad and her husband. Using environmentally friendly materials, participants learned the art of crafting beautiful sustainable candles while enjoying an atmosphere filled with laughter, conversation, and shared experiences. Beyond learning a new skill, the workshop highlighted how creativity can inspire confidence, connection, and environmental responsibility.

In June, participants gained valuable health insights during an engaging eye care awareness session led by Dr. Anupama Rao. Covering the importance of maintaining healthy vision as we age, the interactive discussion encouraged participants to ask questions and seek advice on common eye health concerns. Dr. Rao's thoughtful guidance provided practical knowledge that participants could immediately apply to their daily lives.

The quarter concluded on a light-hearted and nostalgic note with a lively Quiz Fun session organised by SmartLife volunteers Haleema, Anusuya, and Vidya. Filled with engaging trivia, laughter, and memories from years gone by, the session encouraged participants to reminisce, reconnect, and celebrate shared experiences. The friendly competition created an atmosphere of joy while reinforcing the importance of keeping the mind active and socially engaged.

From embracing new technologies and nurturing emotional wellbeing to celebrating creativity, health, and lifelong friendships, the Smart Senior Citizen & Single Parent Programme continues to provide meaningful opportunities for participants to learn, grow, and thrive. Each session reflects SmartLife Foundation's commitment to creating a supportive community where every stage of life is valued, celebrated, and enriched.

SmartLife Academy Celebrates a New Class of Graduates

Empowering frontline workers through education remains at the heart of the SmartLife Academy, and the successful completion of the H1 2026 programme marked another important milestone in helping participants unlock new opportunities for personal and professional growth.

From March to June 2026, blue-collar workers took part in a comprehensive 16-week learning journey, attending weekly two-hour sessions focused on practical English communication, computer literacy, and essential life skills. Designed to strengthen both theoretical understanding and real-world application, the programme equips participants with the confidence and knowledge needed to excel in the workplace while opening doors to future career advancement.

Delivered through a combination of virtual and in-person sessions at labor accommodations and the SmartLife office, the programme is made possible through the collaboration of service providers and the unwavering commitment of SmartLife volunteers, who provide on-site guidance and encouragement throughout the course.

Smart Buddy Expands Educational Opportunities for Children Across the UAE

Education continued to transform young lives this quarter as Smart Buddy UAE celebrated both the successful completion of its Spring Programme and the exciting launch of a new initiative aimed at reaching even more children in need.

From March to June 2026, Smart Buddy welcomed students from across the UAE for its Spring learning session, providing a supportive environment where children could strengthen their academic skills, build confidence, and develop a love for learning.

The programme concluded with a joyful Graduation Ceremony, recognizing the dedication and achievements of both the students and the volunteers whose passion and commitment made the programme a success. The remarkable progress demonstrated by the students reflected the impact of consistent guidance, encouragement, and quality education.

Looking ahead, Smart Buddy is preparing to welcome a new intake of students when classes resume in September 2026, continuing its mission to provide accessible educational support to children across the UAE.

Building on this momentum, SmartLife Foundation has also launched the Smart Buddy – Ajman Kids pilot programme, a significant step towards addressing educational access for unschooled children. The initiative has already enrolled 40 children from Ajman, who are currently participating in bridge classes designed to prepare them for formal education. The programme will run through November, after which the children will be enrolled in the UAE's home-schooling system, where they will continue their studies through structured online learning with ongoing support from the SmartLife team.

This pilot represents the beginning of a much larger vision. By creating a proven pathway into education for children who have previously been excluded from the school system, SmartLife aims to expand the programme and provide many more young learners with the opportunity to build brighter, more independent futures.

Special appreciation goes to Ms. Bhawana, Project Lead, whose dedication, leadership, and unwavering commitment have been instrumental in bringing the Smart Buddy – Ajman Kids initiative to life. Her efforts, together with those of the volunteers and educators, continue to ensure that every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and realize their full potential.

Providing More Than Water: A Simple Initiative Making a Lasting Difference

Access to clean, cold drinking water is essential during the UAE's long summer months, particularly for the thousands of frontline workers who spend their days in demanding environments. Recognising this need, SmartLife Foundation, in partnership with Dar Al Bait Society, has expanded its commitment to worker wellbeing through the installation of water coolers in several workers' accommodations across Dubai.

The initiative, spearheaded by Ms. Juhi Yasmin Khan from Dar Al Bait Society, ensures that residents have convenient access to chilled drinking water, helping them stay hydrated and healthy throughout the year. The newly installed water coolers are now serving workers at Gamamco Labour Camp (Al Quoz), Build Unit Labour Camp (Al Quoz), and AK Construction Labour Camp (Dubai Investment Park 1).

While simple in concept, this initiative delivers a meaningful daily impact. Easy access to safe drinking water supports workers' health, improves comfort, and reinforces the importance of caring for the people who contribute so much to building our communities.

SmartLife Foundation extends its sincere appreciation to Dar Al Bait Society and Ms. Juhi Yasmin Khan for their generous partnership and shared commitment to enhancing the wellbeing of blue-collar workers. Together, we continue to demonstrate that even small acts of kindness can create a lasting and meaningful difference in people's lives.
